Senators make final push for services for elderly
DallasNews.com | News for Dallas, Texas | Texas Legislature: "Senators salvaged what they could of their plan to reduce the number of elderly Texans living in squalor as bargaining on a protective services overhaul bill went down to the wire Wednesday.
Sen. Jane Nelson, R-Lewisville, the Senate's chief negotiator, said that preventing abuse and exploitation of the elderly has taken a back seat to child protection in deliberations over the measure.
'While a lot of attention and focus has been placed on the Child Protective Services, I want to make sure that we get what we can [for] Adult Protective Services,' she said."
