Sen. Pryor vows help to bases

Texarkana Gazette: News and Classifieds From Texarkana, Texas/Arkansas: "U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D- Ark., visited Bowie County's defense complex Wednesday and pledged his support for both bases in the face of a Defense Department recommendation to close them.

'I want to do whatever I can to save these two important facilities,' Pryor said at an afternoon news conference at the Texarkana, Ark., City Hall with Texarkana, Ark., Mayor Horace Shipp and former Texarkana, Texas, Mayor John Jarvis.

Pryor emphasized the military value and importance of Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and Red River Army Depot to Arkansas and the region.
