Valley universities left out in budget
The Monitor - McAllen, Texas: "Both Rio Grande Valley universities were left out of proposed funding for new facilities, but lawmakers said Thursday they hope to be added as the final budget is written this weekend.
When state Sen. Steve Ogden, R-Bryan, distributed an amendment to a spending bill on the Senate floor at around 1 a.m. Thursday, the Valley senators found they weren’t included.
'We had asked for $29 million for (the University of Texas-Pan American), and they were left out completely,' said state Sen. Juan 'Chuy' Hinojosa, D-McAllen."
