Texas senators demand base-closing data
DentonRC.com | News for Denton, Texas | AP: Texas: "Texas' senators are demanding that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld release data used to recommend base closings.
Republican Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn said Thursday the Pentagon has yet to make public information on how it scored the military value of each military installation.
'Communities have a right to know how their bases were measured so they can either support or challenge the proposals,' the Texas senators said.
The data demanded by Hutchison and Cornyn is required by federal statute to be delivered no more than seven days after the list of proposed closings is released. The list was made public May 13.
A similar request was made by nearly a dozen senators in a separate letter, which Cornyn also signed."
When in trouble the GOP start to eat their own. I can't say I'm surprised.
