The announcement came during the public comments section of the Austin City Council meeting.
Gale was encouraged by the 5,315 votes, 9 percent of total votes, she received in the race for Austin City Council Place 4.
Incumbent Betty Dunkerley won that race with 64 percent of the vote.
In the gubernatorial race, Gale faces announced candidate Kinky Friedman. Gov. Rick Perry has yet to make an official announcement on his candidacy. Others mulling running for office are U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and State Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn"
