The Red State: Voucher Bill DIES Kicking and Screaming: "Due to a procedural point of order by Rep. Dunnan (D-Waco), SB 422 died a gruesome death after much yelling on the house floor. Dunnan dropped 7 points of order on the nasty beast and one caught thus bringing it down.

SB 422 would have made Texas the first state to devote significant public funding to private and parochial schools through a voucher program. It would hemorrhaged money from an already under funded public system."
