Schubert endorses Hardberger for mayor

MySA.com: Metro | State: "As they clasped hands and behaved like fast friends, former mayoral challenger Carroll Schubert endorsed his one-time foe Phil Hardberger today, bolstering the latter's momentum days away from his electoral showdown with Julián Castro.

“Although he and I differ in party affiliation, I think what he brings to this is the mature leadership and fiscal responsibility that is important to the city of San Antonio,” Schubert said.

The plum support, coveted by both Schubert and Castro, comes a day after Hardberger outstripped Castro 50 percent to 47 percent in a poll for the first time since the race began.

“Hardberger has fourth-quarter momentum,” said Richard Gambitta, a political scientist at the University of Texas at San Antonio."
