Senate Panel Issues Subpoenas For Base Closing Data

KWTX | Senate Panel Issues Subpoenas For Base Closing Data: "The U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has issued subpoenas to the Pentagon seeking more details about the data used to formulate base closing and realignment recommendations that call for shuttering four bases in Texas and shifting thousands of troops out of Fort Hood.

The move comes after weeks of complaints from members of Congress and state officials including Texans over the slow release of information from the Pentagon.

Critics also noted the lack of backup material being provided.

Officials say much information is classified and therefore can't be discussed in public or at any of the upcoming hearings on the newest round of proposed base closures."
