Lege's tardiness on school finance lets Texas down again

The University Star: "On Nov. 30, Travis County District Judge John Dietz ruled that Texas’ current “Robin Hood” school finance system is unconstitutional, both because it fails to provide poor school districts funds sufficient to provide an adequate education and because the state’s control of the local property taxes that fund schools amounts to an unconstitutional state property tax. The judge gave the Texas Legislature 10 months to find a way to better and more equitably fund the public schools before operation of the school finance system would be suspended."
