Hutchison not tipping hand on 2006
Star-Telegram | 06/02/2005 | Hutchison not tipping hand on 2006: "U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison thanked her supporters Wednesday for encouraging her to provide 'additional leadership in Austin by running for state office,' but she stopped short of saying whether she will run for governor in 2006.
In an e-mail, Hutchison also said she was disappointed by the outcome of the Texas Legislature's 140-day regular session, particularly the failure of a major piece of legislation -- overhauling the way in which public schools are funded.
'Like many Texans, I am disappointed that, despite the hard work of our legislators, major problems facing the state failed to be addressed during the recent legislative session,' she said in the e-mail.
Referring to the school-financing problem, Hutchison added: 'It's particularly unfortunate that some problems will now be left to the courts to define and resolve.
'This is not the way it should work.'"
