Seniors rally for shorter waiting lists - The Daily Texan - State & Local: "Older Texans and people with disabilities joined forces on the steps of the Capitol on Thursday to urge the Legislature to put federal funds to use to reduce the waiting lists for in-home human services.
Protesters from Community First, a coalition of disabled and elderly Texans, distributed pamphlets and said they were 'tired of waiting for community services.'
Community First said they want the waiting list for home and community services to be reduced by 20 percent during this 2-year period. This would be part of a 10-year plan that would end the current waiting lists for home and community services. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has proposed this plan to the Legislature.
"
I hope and pray that seniors and people with disabilities receive some sort of hope from this legislative session. We'll see.
