Perry not pleased with senators' plans for base tours
HoustonChronicle.com - Perry not pleased with senators' plans for base tours: "Gov. Rick Perry talked about having a 'team effort' to fight military base closures Friday, but the state's top Republicans couldn't fit it into their schedules.
Perry had written Sens. Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn on Wednesday suggesting a weekend tour of Texas once the Base Realignment and Closure Commission announced its results Friday. Hutchison wrote back and said it would be premature to make plans before the BRAC announcement was made.
When the report came out, Hutchison began putting together a tour of affected communities for Sunday with Cornyn. Perry said it didn't fit his schedule and then planned a fly-around for Saturday."
