Base supporters disappointed in losing C-130s
Abilene Reporter News: Local: "For Abilene and Dyess Air Force Base, Friday was bittersweet - but definitely more sweet than bitter.
The good news for base promoters and city leaders is the Department of Defense's recommendation that Dyess house the entire fleet of B-1 bombers in the Air Force.
However, the base is scheduled to lose its fleet of C-130 cargo jets. Overall, Dyess will gain more than 370 new airmen and a civilian at the base, according to the Pentagon's recommended projections."
