Perry makes surprise visit to Iraq
Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Latest News: "Gov. Rick Perry has traveled to Iraq with three other governors in a surprise visit to troops from their states.
Perry joined Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle and Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal, Huckabee spokeswoman Alice Stewart said Tuesday morning. They left for Iraq on Sunday after receiving classified briefings at the Pentagon, she said.
'The Department of Defense set this trip up for the purpose of making these governors aware of the global war on terror,' Stewart said. 'It's important for the governors to be on the ground and visit with the troops.'"
