The Texas Whip: Advice for the Texas Democrats vis a vis Latino Voters

The Texas Whip: Advice for the Texas Democrats vis a vis Latino Voters: "If Latinos were a discrete and insular minority group, strategists might be right in (subtly) using an ethnic identity politics approach or appealing to Latino leaders and interest groups (e.g. LULAC). The logical problem here is the very ascendancy of Latinos (numercially, and socio-economically) in Texas means that they will be much less likely to adhere to a party solely based on a racial/ethnically based solidarity. There is a point at which ethnic identification gives way to socio-economic status identification. The smart strategists should 86 their preconcieved assumptions based on ethnic identity and become more saavy to the varied interests of Texas' Latino population."

Read the rest. I hope some of our Texas Dem leaders read it as well.
