GAO questions closure of Red River depot
DallasNews.com | News for Dallas, Texas | Texas/Southwest: "The commission considering proposed military base closings should scrutinize a recommendation to shutter the Red River Army Depot and whether its work can be done elsewhere, congressional investigators said in a report released Friday.
The Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, raised several questions about the Defense Department's base closure recommendations issued in May, including how long it will take to recoup upfront costs of closures or realignments, how the Pentagon calculated some cost savings and estimates, and impacts on surrounding communities."
