Study: Political parties take corporate, union money: "Advocates for changes in campaign finance laws argued Thursday that corporate and union donations influenced the legislative deadlock over whether to raise taxes on businesses to pay for public schools this year.

Campaigns for People, a nonprofit that monitors campaign finances in Texas, released a study showing that the Republican Party of Texas gets half of its money from corporations and the Texas Democratic Party gets more than a third from businesses and unions."
