6 in state GOP reject slaughters
DallasNews.com | News for Dallas, Texas | Texas/Southwest: "Six Texas Republicans broke away from the state's GOP pack in the House to vote against slaughtering horses for meat, much of which is done in their home state.
The six voted for a measure that strips funding from the U.S. Agriculture Department to inspect any horsemeat, effectively barring the sale of horsemeat for human consumption.
By voting for the measure, the Texans defied one of their own – San Antonio Rep. Henry Bonilla, who oversees agriculture funding."
