What Energy Plan?

Truth Serum: Because America Deserves The Truth: "In WSJ today, it talks about how your mom and pop corner gas stations, another words middle america, sells gas at prices less than the costs to purchase. Even with the price per gallon for gas reaching all time highs, store owners are not saying, 'cha-ching'. Uncertainty and fluctuations in prices, notwithstanding the spike in oil prices reaching above $55/barrel, cause worry among small business owners to maintain their loyalty among their customer base to keep prices somewhat stable. They sacrifice profits in gas in hopes that the same customer base will walk in their store and buy into the better profit margins from coffee and donuts.

What these mom and pop stores may or may not know is that the big major oil companies have already 'been there, done that' and have long ago executed an exit strategy from this retail sector because they know there is no money in it. The profits are in the wholesale business and in the process of refining the crude to its finished gasoline stage. Therefore, they have left these mom and pop stores, middle america, hung to dry."
