Every single death penalty state in the nation has the lesser option of life without parole available, except Rick Perry's radical-right-wing-controlled Texas. This is not controversial for a great majority of Texans and, indeed, Americans. It is common sense: if someone is dangerous to society, but their crime does not justify the ultimate penalty, there should be a lesser option for juries and judges that secures the safety of the community without killing a person."
