Norman Brinker to be honored by Texas House and Senate - 2005-05-24

Norman Brinker to be honored by Texas House and Senate - 2005-05-24: "Resolutions will be introduced Wednesday in the Texas Legislature honoring restaurant pioneer Norman Brinker for his lifetime achievements and contributions.

In the 1960s, Brinker recognized a need for a restaurant that falls between fast food and fine dining. He focused on what is now called the casual dining concept. He developed the Steak & Ale brand and later Bennigans.

In 1983, Brinker became chairman and CEO of Chili's Inc. At the time there were 28 locations. By 1991, the company had been renamed Brinker International (NYSE:EAT).

The Dallas-based company now operates more than 1,500 restaurants in 49 states and 24 countries. The restaurants include Romano's Macaroni Grill, On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Maggiano's Little Italy, Corner Bakery Cafe and Rockfish Seafood Grill. "

I'd never heard of the guy before today, but I sure like his restaurants.
