KRT Wire | 05/09/2005 | Commissioners to represent ethics agency in fundraising probe

KRT Wire | 05/09/2005 | Commissioners to represent ethics agency in fundraising probe: "After the state attorney general declined to help them fight off a subpoena from prosecutors investigating allegations of Republican fundraising abuses, two members of the Texas Ethics Commission will represent the agency on their own, officials said Monday.

Commissioners Francisco Hernandez and Raymond 'Tripp' Davenport, both lawyers, are doing the work without pay, Davenport said.

The subpoena seeks the identity of a person who requested a 1998 opinion about limits on corporate money in Texas politics - at the heart of the investigation into 2002 GOP fund-raising."

When a Republican stands up and does the right thing, they deserve credit. Kudos to Attorney Gerneral Greg Abbott.
