Senate, House approve judicial pay raise
MySA.com: "Judges would get a pay raise and lawmakers would get a boost in their retirement plans under legislation approved by lawmakers Tuesday.
The House and Senate bills are meant to bring judicial salaries in line with those of judges in other states. Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson told lawmakers earlier this year that he believes Texas judges do not earn enough to keep the top legal minds on the bench.
Under the bills, judges on the Supreme Court would earn $150,000 a year, up from $113,000 a year. Salaries for district judges would increase from $101,000 a year to $125,000 and appellate judicial salaries would go from $107,000 to $135,000."
