Common Sense: Haven't gotten Kinky in a while: "I haven't heard much from Kinky Friedman during the Special Session, so I decided to stop by his Web site and check in.

As usual, he's a quote-making machine. He's got a quote on every issue that you can't pass up, which is why he's always going to get good press coverage.

Still, I don't think he has much of a chance. For one, he's far from a lock on even being on the ballot. Two, it would take a lot of new voters to make a difference between the GOP and the Democrats. Democrats are doing what they can to get young people interested in politics so there is going to be significant GOTV efforts on that side. Strayhorn's only chance to win the primary is to get a high voter turnout on that side. Suddenly you need a lot of votes to even make it look like a real three-way race after March."
