State budget bill appropriates $1.3 billion to aid CPS - The Daily Texan - State & Local: "State legislators and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission have submitted and revised policies to increase health coverage for Texas children.
The state budget bill, in text as Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 10, appropriates $1.3 billion of its available $137.5 billion to Child Protective Services, including the funds for hiring new caseworkers in order to reduce the investigators' monthly workload. The new CPS reform bill, SB 6, would reduce caseloads for CPS employees from 75 to 45 cases per month."
