MySA.com: Metro | State: "Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said Sunday night that legislative leaders have agreed to put about $3 billion in new funding into a measure to reshape public schools, paving the way for negotiations to continue on the issue between the House and the Senate.
Dewhurst made the comments in an interview a couple of hours after lawmakers working on the school overhaul took a break in closed-door meetings. The lawmakers said they wanted top state leaders to agree on how much money they have to put into education before they continued negotiating."
