Clean Up Texas Politics | Dallas Morning News: Exclusive: 'Kinfolk' Lobbyists Prospering

Clean Up Texas Politics | Dallas Morning News: Exclusive: 'Kinfolk' Lobbyists Prospering: "2003 was a fine year for the careers of lobbyist Nora Del Bosque and her sister, Nancy Fisher.

Ms. Del Bosque doubled her billings and client list after Ms. Fisher left her lobby practice to become a top staffer to newly elected House Speaker Tom Craddick, R-Midland.

Coincidence? There's no way to tell for sure, but Texas Ethics Commission records show that Ms. Del Bosque is one of at least a half-dozen relatives of statehouse power brokers making hundreds of thousands of dollars lobbying at the Capitol. Lobbyists and lawmakers alike say that relatives do not get special treatment. But in the lobby business, relationships and access are the currency of the trade. "
